Zierdt steps down from GMG to focus on health
(Mankato, MN) – Jonathan Zierdt announced he’ll step down from his post as CEO and President of Greater Mankato Growth.
Zierdt, who has been battling cancer since being diagnosed since 2013, says he’s leaving the organization in order to focus on his health and pursue personal interests. Zierdt said he plans to dedicate time to photography and the Jonathan Zierdt Cancer Fund’s Caring Box Program, which provides items of support to cancer patients and their families.
“Although we will miss his leadership and inspiration, we whole-heartedly support his decision to make his health and quality of life top priorities,” said GMG board chair Ron Vetter of Zierdt’s decision.
Zierdt has been with GMG since its inception in 2007. The board of directors will immediately begin a national search for his successor. Vice President Patrick Baker will run day-to-day operations in the interim.
Zierdt’s last day with GMG will be March 15.
