Air quality alert issued for most of Minnesota

Nearly the entire state, including Mankato and the surrounding areas, is under an air quality alert issued by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.

The alert went into effect Wednesday night and expires Friday at 5:30 p.m.

MPCA says winds from the north will steer smoke from wildfires in Manitoba and Ontario into Minnesota. The smoke will spread across the state Thursday morning, and linger through Thursday night and into Friday.
