The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources says one of their conservation officers died in the line of duty.
Officer Sara Grell was killed in a two-vehicle crash near Grand Rapids, according to the DNR. Grell had served as a conservation officer since 2005 and was married with three children.
The Minnesota State Patrol says Grell was driving a Chevy pickup that was northbound on Itasca County Road 336 when a semi that was eastbound on Itasca County Road 57 made contact with the driver’s side door of Grell’s pickup in the intersection, causing fatal injuries.
The semi driver, a Grand Rapids man, suffered minor injuries.
