Mankato man accused of headbutting woman
A Mankato man is accused of headbutting a woman.
Ian Larz Weiner, 41, was charged Monday in Blue Earth County Court with two felony counts of domestic assault.
According to a criminal complaint, Weiner began yelling and spitting in the face of a woman known to him at a Mankato residence. The complaint says Weiner headbutted the woman in the back of the head, leaving her with a large, red swollen area.
Weiner also picked up a coffee table and flipped it over as he continued to scream at the victim, according to the complaint. The woman told police Weiner also broke a door when he punched it.
Court records show there was an active warrant for Weiner’s arrest when police arrived on the scene in the early morning hour of December 26. Weiner was taken into custody.
Weiner told police the victim was punching him and struck him in the face. Police saw a cut on Weiner’s eyebrow, which the victim said happened when he headbutted her. Weiner told police he had never feared harm from the victim. The complaint says that Weiner told police at the end of his interview that “he might have to beat a woman to show he doesn’t actually beat women.”
Weiner has two prior domestic violence-related convictions, according to police.
