1 person dead following McLeod County fire
(Glencoe, MN) – One person is dead following an early morning fire in McLeod County.
Sheriff’s officials responded to a fire at 165th Street, northwest of Glencoe at 3:04 a.m. Wednesday after being notified by the McLeod Co-op. Responding crews found the house fully engulfed in flames upon arrival.
The McLeod County Sheriff says one person was found dead inside the residence and was transported to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s office. The victim’s name will be released pending identification.
Sheriff’s officials said that the McLeod Co-op was notified of the fire via a computer-generated message, but they weren’t entirely certain at this point in the investigation why the co-op was notified first.
The home was a total loss.
Assisting the McLeod County Sheriff was the Silver Lake Ambulance, Silver Lake Fire Department, Glencoe Police, Minnesota State Fire Marshal, and Midwest Medical Examiner’s office.
More details will be released as the investigation progresses.
