2 children airlifted following Renville County crash that left 5 injured
Two children were airlifted to Minneapolis following a crash in Renville County that also injured three others.
On Sunday afternoon just before 1 p.m., the Renville County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a vehicle that went off-road on Co Rd 20, north of the intersection with Co Rd 11 in Boon Lake Township.
Investigators say an SUV driven by Becky Chase, 60, of Bird Island was northbound on Co Rd 20 when it entered the ditch, struck a field approach, and launched, coming to a stop in the ditch.
Chase had four passengers in the vehicle: Natasha Cole, 28, of Olivia, and three Litchfield boys, ages 10, 8, and 5.
All five occupants in the SUV were transported to Health Partners in Hutchinson for treatment. The 5-year-old boy and the 8-year-old boy were transported by helicopter to Children’s Hospital of Minneapolis for further care and treatment.
The crash remains under investigation.
