23 new coronavirus deaths reported over weekend

(St. Paul, MN) – Minnesota health officials reported twenty-three new deaths due to COVID-19 over the weekend, bringing the state’s death toll to 134.

Confirmed positive cases now total 2,356, according to the Minnesota Department of Health.  Of those testing positive for coronavirus, 1,160 no longer need isolation, says MDH.

The most recent data says 228 people are hospitalized with the virus, with 112 patients under intensive care.  Patients as young as four weeks old were hospitalized for COVID-19, according to a case breakdown by MDH.  Cases requiring intensive care included people ranging in age from 20 to 95 years old.

In Nobles County, at least twenty workers at the JBS pork processing plant have tested postive for COVID-19.  There are now 60 cases in the county, which is becoming a major hotspot in the state.
