(Mankato, MN) – A North Mankato man has been hired as the new executive director of the Blue Earth Nicollet County Humane Society (BENCHS).

The Board of Directors of the animal shelter introduced Andrew Burk as the new leader of the organization at the January 14 board meeting.

Burk has a bachelor of arts in speech communications from the University of Illinois Urbana.  Most recently, he served as the store manager for Lowe’s Home Improvement in Owatonna.  Burk has a history of experience in retail management, customer service, marketing, and branding.

“Andrew brings a wealth of leadership experience to the shelter,” said Susan Kroon, President of BENCHS Board of Directors.

Burk will oversee the overall management of the organization.  He began his new role at the shelter on January 9.  He and his wife, Brooke have two little girls and two rescue dogs of their own.
