(Mankato, MN) – Mankato Public Safety has identified a man was found dead at the scene of a fire Wednesday.

Officials say James Gacke, 72, was found deceased inside the home at 1403 Carney Avenue.    The cause of death will be determined by the coroner, but foul play isn’t suspected.

According to a release from Mankato Public Safety, fire crews responded to the home at 11:43 a.m.  Upon arrival, a fire in the living room was extinguished, and Gacke’s body was discovered.  Public Safety says the cause of the fire does not appear to be intentional.

Damages are estimated to be about $38,000.
