UPDATE: Victim of Minnesota River crash identified

Police have identified the man found dead after his vehicle crashed into the Minnesota River Friday in Redwood County.

Thaddeus Lorenz, 30, of New Auburn, was declared deceased at the scene of the crash, according to a press release.

At 11 a.m.,  the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office was advised that a vehicle had crashed into the river at the 43000 block of Harvest Ave.

Deputies located Lorenz’s body inside the vehicle.  Police say the vehicle didn’t break through the ice, and was removed from the scene.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner will determine Lorenz’s cause of death.
