Charges: Waldorf man charged with 4th DWI admitted to using fentanyl

A Waldorf man charged with his fourth since 2018 allegedly admitted to using fentanyl before driving.

Trevor Michael Allen, 27, was charged Monday in Blue Earth County Court with felony counts of DWI and felony 5th-degree drug possession.

A criminal complaint says Allen was stopped by a Blue Earth County deputy Sunday evening for driving “all over the roadway” without headlights.

The complaint says the deputy recognized Allen from previous narcotics-related traffic stops and noticed several items on the passenger seat that were consistent with smoking or snorting drugs.

Police say Allen was moving in a “sporadic and rigid fashion,” and “spoke in a broken and rapid manner.”

Allen allegedly admitted that it was fentanyl on the passenger seat and told deputies he had used it two hours before he was stopped.

The complaint says Allen’s vehicle was supposed to have an interlock device due to his previous DUIs, but there was no such device in his Honda.

Allen’s blood was drawn and sent to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for analysis.

Allen has been previously convicted of misdemeanor DWI in Blue Earth County in 2018, in Cottonwood County in 2019, and in Olmsted County in 2021.

Allen was transported to detox.
