Update: Shelter-in-place lifted, but law enforcement still on the scene

6:30 a.m. update: Police say a shelter-in-place is no longer necessary in the Hilltop Ln area, but the public should still avoid the area.  There will be a law enforcement presence in the area until the matter is resolved, according to a social media update.

A shelter-in-place warning was issued Tuesday evening in Mankato due to shots fired.

The alert was sent to residents at about 5:30 p.m. and asked people to stay clear of the area of Hilltop Lane and Hoffman Rd.

A social media update just before 1 a.m. said the situation remained active and asked residents at Hoffman Road and Victory Drive and Marwood Drive and Victory Drive to shelter in place.

Police reported via social media that the situation was still active as of 1:45 a.m.
