DWI Charges: Madison Lake woman 3x’s the legal limit when she ran over tree
A Madison Lake woman was three times the legal alcohol limit when she got behind the wheel and drove last week, according to charges filed in Blue Earth County Court.
Kimberly Mae Johnson, 48, was charged with two counts of gross misdemeanor DWI for the alleged December 22 incident.
Eagle Lake Police and the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office responded to a driving complaint at county roads 26 & 188 at 8:25 a.m after a witness reported that a silver SUV had nearly crashed head-on with another vehicle.
According to a criminal complaint, the vehicle had also driven on the sidewalk by a Madison Lake bar, where it ran over a tree. Police tracked the vehicle to a driveway in Madison Lake, where they found Johnson still inside with her head down on the seat, according to the complaint.
Police say Johnson’s speech was incoherent and she admitted to taking two Adderall.
Court documents say police discovered an empty bottle of Phillips 100 Blue on the floor of the vehicle. Johnson allegedly told police the bottle had been full when she left for work.
Johnson agreed to a portable breath test at the scene, which put her blood alcohol level at .29, according to the complaint. Police say she was too intoxicated to perform field sobriety testing.
The complaint says Johnson took a second breath test at the Blue Earth County Jail, which resulted in a blood-alcohol content reading of .24, three times the Minnesota legal driving limit of .08.
