Firefighter burn training scheduled for Saturday in Mankato

Mankato Public Safety firefighters, along with Eagle Lake and North Mankato fire departments will conduct a live burn training this weekend.

From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, December 9, a structure at 933 E Plum St that was scheduled for demolition will be used for the training.

Live burn training is critical because it allows multiple fire departments to practice how to fight fires safely and effectively in a controlled setting.

Parking on the 900 block of Plum St will be restricted beginning at 6 a.m.

Anyone living in the area should act to protect items from coming in contact with smoke:

  • Cover vehicles and roll up windows
  • Close home windows
  • Bring items indoors if appropriate
