Labor Day weekend could bring record-breaking heat

Southern Minnesotans will be laboring through some intense heat over the holiday weekend. 

The National Weather Service says record-breaking heat is possible. The Mankato area is expected to see five consecutive days at or above 90 degrees starting Friday, with Sunday and Labor Day Monday expected to be the hottest days.

Saturday is expected to hit 95 degrees with winds up to 25 mph.  Sunday could be the hottest day of the week, with a high of 98.  Labor Day is expected to be sunny and windy with a high of 96.  NWS says humidity won’t be a factor with this heat wave.
