Mankato Area Public Schools hires two new principals

Two new principals have been hired at Mankato Area Public Schools. 

Melissa Brueske will become the principal of Jefferson Elementary. Brueske has been with the district for four years and is currently serving as the interim principal at Jefferson.  She was previously the Dean of Students at Prairie Winds Middle School and she also taught kindergarten for one year at Washington Elementary.   Brueske taught in the Belle Plaine Public School District for 15 years before coming to Mankato.

Akram Osman M. will be the principal at Dakota Meadows Middle School.  Osman is currently the principal at Bloomington Kennedy High School, but he previously worked in the Mankato district as a cultural liaison and special education teacher. He also served as the head girls’ soccer coach at Mankato East High School.  Osman is a graduate of the school district. He and his family live in the Mankato community. 

The hires are effective July 1, 2022.
