(Mankato, MN) – The Blue Earth County Farm Service Agency will temporarily open for limited services to farmers and ranchers.

The office on Victory Drive was forced to close December 28 in response to the partial government shutdown, which entered its 27th day Thursday.   FSA staff will be on hand to assist producers with existing farm loans and 1099 documents.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture says FSA offices around the country will be open today, Thursday, January 17, Friday, January 18, and Tuesday, January 22.  The offices will be closed Monday in observance of the federal Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

“We are bringing back part of our FSA team to help producers with existing farm loans,” said U.S.D.A Secretary Sonny Perdue.

Several county FSA offices around southern Minnesota will be staffed for the temporary re-opening: Fillmore County in Preston, Lyon County in Marshall, McLeod County in Glencoe, Nobles County in Worthington, Olmsted County in Rochester, and Redwood County in Redwood Falls.
