(Mankato, MN) – Mayo Clinic Health System says it will open its Minnesota locations to elective surgeries and in-person care starting Monday.

MCHS made the announcement Tuesday after Governor Tim Walz relaxed restrictions on elective surgeries.  Elective care was suspended in March, when initial COVID-19 modeling projected a surge that would exceed hospital and intensive care beds and ventilators.

A release from MCHS says new safety measures will be implemented, including universal masking, robust patient screening protocols, and enhanced cleaning procedures when facilities open on May 11.
