Montgomery man killed in snowmobile crash
(Le Center, MN) – A Montgomery man died Saturday in a snowmobile crash in Le Sueur County.
Larry Gene Haynes, 55, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which happened around 4:40 p.m. at Lexington Rd near 173rd Ave, west of Montgomery.
The Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Office says Haynes was riding a snowmobile northbound on the trail and was unable to stop at the Lexington Rd crossing, colliding with a westbound pickup. The sled was traveling at a high rate of speed, according to the sheriff’s office.
Haynes was ejected off the snowmobile. Lifesaving efforts at the scene were unsuccessful.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
