Sheriff: Machinery website that appears to be Evan-based business is a scam

A machinery sale website looks legit, but the Brown County Sheriff’s Office says it’s all a scam. 

The website, www.altfamilyfarm.com  advertises heavy construction machinery for sale out of Evan.

According to Sheriff Jason Seidl, the entire website is fake and contains pictures of scenes that don’t exist in Brown County.  The suspects behind the site tell potential customers to make payments through wireless transfer.  When customers try to make an appointment to look at the machinery, they’re eventually unable to connect with the fraudulent company. 

The sheriff’s office says it’s received reports from across the country inquiring about the validity of the www.altfamilyfarm.com. 

The sheriff’s office is working with the Minnesota Department of Commerce to shut down the fictitious website.
