St. Peter awarded grant for transportation plan

St. Peter is among eight Minnesota cities that will receive funds from the latest round of Active Transportation Planning Assistance grants.

St. Peter’s grant was awarded for its community-wide active transportation plan. The grants are intended to help the recipients increase the number of people walking and biking in their communities, according to the Minnesota Department of Transport.

The grants, funded by the Minnesota Legislature, cover the estimated $100,000 cost of technical assistance from a consultant, such as developing an action plan and demonstration project.  Each city is responsible for the cost of implementing the plan.
