Update: Teen who drowned in Cottonwood County’s Eagle Lake identified

The teen who went missing while canoeing in a Cottonwood County lake has been identified.

The Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office says Skyler Goulette, 15, of Mountian Lake drowned in Eagle Lake, in Carson Township.

Goulette’s body was found in about 4 ½ feet of water around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. 

Goulette went missing in Eagle Lake on Monday after he jumped in the water to retrieve an oar and the wind drifted him away from the canoe he and a family member were using.  He was reported missing just before 7 p.m. after the family member lost sight of him as he tried to swim to shore.  Eagle Lake is west of Mountain Lake.

The Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office assisted with recovery efforts.
