(New Ulm, MN) – New Ulm Police say the case of an injured kitten has been investigated and the matter is now considered closed.

In a Facebook post, the department said that there were no witnesses to abuse or torture.

“There have been numerous reports on social media of a cat that was found injured in New Ulm,” said the post.  “This has been investigated and the investigation is considered closed.  There were no witnesses to this animal sustaining injuries and it could have happened any number of ways.  We hope this offers some clarification.”

New Ulmites buzzed on social media Thursday and Friday about the injured kitten, which was reported by the Brown County Humane Society to have been tortured by young people.  The post has since been taken down from the BCHS Facebook page.  Nearly $600 had been raised by the kitten before the post was removed.
